The Natural Capital Assessment Project is being funded by Defra, through the UK’s Joint Nature Conservation Committee. SAERI has been tasked with undertaking Natural Capital Assessments for the South Atlantic Overseas Territories (UKOTs).
The Natural Capital Assessment Project aims to assess the value of the OT’s natural capital, establish the distribution of these assets, and develop procedures for monitoring changes to this natural capital over time using appropriate metrics.
A natural capital assessment will be undertaken in the Falkland Islands and Ascension (Year One), with a roll-out of the model developed to the other South Atlantic United Kingdom Overseas Territories (i.e. St. Helena, Tristan da Cunha and South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands) in Year Two.
The position will coordinate the implementation of the project, project management support will be provided by SAERI. There are specialist key outputs e.g. ascertaining Total Economic Values (TEV) and producing value maps that the project manager will need to ensure are delivered therefore the technical competencies of the role require expertise in environmental economics or related subject ideally at Masters level.
The position is for a fixed-term 18 month contract. The position will be based in the South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute’s (SAERI) head office in Stanley, Falkland Islands. Travel to Europe and the other relevant Overseas Territories may be required. The NCA Project Manager will report to the Deputy Director SAERI
This post is at Grade D/C – and is a full-time role. Note salary starts at £29,029.00 in grade D; and £34,682.00 in Grade C. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
