The Department of Natural Resources, Fishing and Boating Service - Estuarine and Marine Fisheries Division - Chesapeake Finfish Program, is currently accepting applications for a Natural Resources Biologist IV to be stationed in Stevensville, Maryland. The incumbent will be responsible for the execution of technical surveys designed to monitor environmental and harvest effects on shad and river herring species in Maryland tidal waters. The incumbent will participate in Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) activities involving shad and river herring and participate in Susquehanna River Anadromous Fish Restoration Commission activities involving the target species. The position will supervise survey staff and participate in data collection, data compilation and biological sample processing, and will be responsible for analyzing data and writing technical reports pertaining to shad and river herring species in Maryland, including compliance reports to ASMFC. The selected candidate will also serve as Maryland's representative to the ASMFC Red Drum Technical Committee. The incumbent will advise senior staff on population trends and management strategies for shad and herring species, both within Maryland and for the entire Atlantic coast stock.
