As a Fishery Management Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Identify issues and propose solutions to support the development, implementation and administration of fishery ecosystem management programs in the Greater Atlantic Region and coordinate the review, analysis, approval, and implementation of actions to Fishery Management Plans (FMPs) that comply with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation Act and Ecosystem Fishery Management concepts.
  • Coordinates relevant ecosystem fishery management activities with Regional Fishery Management Councils and Fishery Commissions, partner agencies, states, the public, and other applicable groups, including participation on national-level agency ecosystem working groups.
  • Synthesize technical material regarding ecosystems and ecosystem fishery management, natural resource, and applicable regulations, and provide written responses to letters from the public or internal agency requests for information regarding fisheries management issues.

The duties described are at the full performance level of the ZP-3 grade and the duties at the ZP-2 are developmental leading to the ZP-3 level.
