Pomona College is searching for a Conservation Biologist with interdisciplinary competencies for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2019. Applicants should have a doctorate in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a closely related field.  Previous teaching and postdoctoral experience is expected, as is a strong interest in teaching a diverse undergraduate population and potential to develop a research program that involves undergraduate students. 

The successful candidate will have a joint appointment in Biology and Environmental Analysis and will offer courses relevant to both majors. The teaching load is four courses per year, including an upper-level course in Conservation Biology and contributions to the Environmental Analysis and Biology majors. Additional courses may include advanced classes in the candidate's area of expertise.

Pomona College is a highly selective liberal arts college and a member of the Claremont Colleges consortium. It is located in Los Angeles County with access to a broad range of natural habitats including California sage scrub, deserts, mountains, coastal habitats, and a range of urban environments with diverse human populations. Teaching and research facilities include the Bernard Field Station, a 45-acre preserve within walking distance of the college. Pomona College offers strong support for faculty research and teaching.
