Under direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisor, The Senior Environmental Scientist Specialist will work with Marine Region projects on a wide range of complex and highly original scientific research studies of fisheries population and dynamics. The incumbent will provide leadership and coordinate scientific studies and investigations involving State, and Federal fisheries management agencies; and make original, independent decisions on complex scientific problems using scientific theories and principles of population dynamics and risk assessment, and develop and test hypotheses on the response of marine populations to fishing and environmental stressors. The incumbent will provide advice and guidance to management, participate in the development of natural resource policy, make presentations to agency representative, elected officials, other scientists, fishery participants, and the public and publish research in scientific journals.
