The Department of Ecology is recruiting for a Marine Spatial Plan Coordinator (Environmental Planner 2) position in the Shorelands and Environmental Assistance (SEA) Program. This 18-month project position will be located in our Headquarters Office in Lacey and will work with a talented and dedicated team of people working in shoreline, coastal, and floodplain management.
This project position provides support in research, data analysis and outreach efforts on our marine waters. The position reports to the Coastal/Shorelands Section Manager and serves as a journey level environmental planner ensuring effective implementation of the state's Marine Spatial Plan (MSP) through targeted education and outreach and the evaluation of scientific data for management of ocean resources on Washington Coast.
We are looking for applicants with knowledge or experience in ocean planning and marine science to help ensure the effective implementation of the state's Marine Spatial Plan (MSP). Applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to build and maintain cooperative relationships with agency staff, tribes, local governments, and coastal stakeholders. They should have a general understanding of the Shoreline Management Act, Ocean Resources Management Act, and other related coastal management laws and regulations. They should also have strong analytical and project management skills and at least a basic understanding of the views and priorities of the key stakeholders with an interest in ocean planning.
