Ecology's is looking to fill two Oil Spill Preparedness Planner (Environmental Planner 3) positions. These positions are flexible to either be located at our Headquarters Building in Lacey, WA. or our Northwest Regional Office (NWRO) in Bellevue, WA. The location of these positions are flexible depending on where the successful candidate resides. The Program mission is to protect Washington's environment, public health, and safety through a comprehensive spill prevention, preparedness and response program. Why Join the Team? DutiesWhat is the Job? As the Oil Spill Preparedness Planner, you will be a key resource in the continual evolution of our state's preparedness program, in a way that keeps oil spill plans effective, oil spill teams well trained and spill preparedness improved from lessons learned. The work is statewide and travel is an expected part of the job. We are looking for an engaged and proactive individual interested in being part of dynamic team. Ideal applicants possess effective skills in organization, tracking processes, understands how to manage projects and timelines, eye for detail, able to review long and technical documents, process information and make recommendations. As a member of the Oil Spill Preparedness Planners, you will be a key resource in the following activities:
- Ensuring the largest oil movers in the state are aggressively prepared for oil spills by evaluating the effectiveness of their oil spill contingency plans
- Evaluating and participating in live action role-play in oil spill drills and exercises as part of the state's readiness for oil spills
- Being part of the response community by planning and collaborating with local, state, federal, tribal governments and communities on development of geographic response plans
- Training and qualifying to support a 24/7 response posture

Required Qualifications: A Master's degree or above with major emphasis in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, landscape architecture, geography, land use or environmental law, public administration with an environmental emphasis, public policy, marine affairs, or closely related field.
Three years of professional experience in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, and/or program development.
One year of experience as an Environmental Planner 3, provided that a Master's degree has been obtained.
A Bachelor's degree in a field of natural science.
Five years of professional experience in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, and/or program development.
