Summary Job Description
In Indonesia, Blue Ventures works with coastal communities through two complementary approaches: directly through our teams living and working in coastal communities (direct implementation); and through like-minded partner organisations working with coastal communities (outreach). We are seeking a resourceful, passionate and culture-sensitive coordinator, with proven experience in project management, impact monitoring and strategy development to oversee the development of our direct implementation work in Indonesia.
The Conservation Programmes Coordinator will be a senior role within our small but growing team in Bali and will report directly to Blue Ventures’ Head of Implementation, based in the UK, collaborating closely with the Outreach Regional Manager and with support from the UK based Monitoring and Evaluation team.
Central to the role’s responsibilities will be providing support and line management to two Site Leaders, who coordinate activities at two sites; Taman Nasional (TN) Sembilang in Sumatera Selatan and Kubu Raya in Kalimantan Barat. As our work at these two sites starts in earnest, the Conservation Programmes Manager will play an integral role, ensuring the Site Leaders have the necessary support to develop coherent site strategies and work-plans that respond directly to the needs of communities, aligned with Blue Ventures’ organisational vision and strategy. To do so, the successful candidate will need to form close working relationships with support teams in the UK to ensure the Site Leaders are receiving the necessary level of support. The Manager will also be responsible for nurturing open communication between the Site Leaders, empowering them to share experiences and lessons learned between sites and also more widely within the organisation – particularly with our Indonesia Outreach team. This will necessitate close communication and collaboration with our Bali-based Outreach Regional Manager.
Blue Ventures’ approach is grounded in listening and responding to the needs of coastal communities. Whilst these communities are always our primary partners, in both TN Sembilang and Kubu Raya, Blue Ventures will also be working in close partnership with other organisations. The Site Leaders will be responsible for managing these important relationships at the site level but the Conservation Programmes Manager will work closely with the Site Leaders to ensure that partner coordination and communication is consistent across sites.
