The Communications function is a core strategic component of GFW’s program, integral to generating public visibility, political support, and building an international constituency for GFW and greater transparency in global fisheries. GFW’s communications is centred on driving impactful messaging, targeted media coverage and engagement that promotes transparency as integral to responsible stewardship of our ocean, and that positions GFW as a leading authority and partner of choice for data-led transparency in global fishing activity.
The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for supporting implementation of the global communications strategy, with a focus on media relations, program and science communications. The post-holder must be a self-starter with a sharp nose for news, a keen eye for detail, able to respond quickly to reactive opportunities and have a thorough understanding of the needs and workings of international and online media. The ideal candidate will have an interest in marine conservation, and experience in producing editorial content and science-based communications. The post-holder will work closely with the Communications and Outreach Director, but will be expected to work directly withthe distributed GFW team in order to ensure the effective delivery against the communications goals.
