  • Regular attendance at Waterkeeper Alliance biennial conferences, biennial Regional Summits, and the Annual meeting (in-person and virtual)
  • Regular attendance at Waterkeepers Chesapeake annual meetings and monthly conference calls.

The Assateague Coastkeeper:

  • Reports to the Executive Director.
  • Acts as primary spokesperson for the waterbody and is the primary Communicator to public/local officials.
  • Works with Executive Director and Board to help achieve individual, corporate, foundation, and event fundraising goals.

  • Responsible for maintenance of equipment and watercraft, however boat motor is serviced locally.
  • Patrols waterbody and updates/identifies problem areas, and advises Executive Director.
  • Responds to pollution reports, investigates and refers possible violations to the proper county, state or federal authority.
  • Prepares and leads educational presentations within the community.
  • Oversees water quality monitoring program; tracks health of our coastal waterways
  • Serves as the liaison between Assateague Coastal Trust and Waterkeeper Alliance, as well as other local, state, and national organizations.
