PLoS ONE has published, Fishing for Space: Fine-Scale Multi-Sector Maritime Activities Influence Fisher Location Choice. The authors examined AIS and satellite tracking data of fishing vessels from the English and Welsh scallop-dredging fleet in the eastern English Channel to determine the effects of competing uses on fishing location choices. The real-time co-location of other ocean users (such as the mining industry, recreational users, etc.) all influenced the locations in which fishers chose to harvest.
