PLoS ONE has published a new paper on the Historical Patterns and Drivers of Spatial Changes in Recreational Fishing Activity in Puget Sound, Washington. The authors found that over a 60 year period, locations of prime fishing activity remained largely unchanged, though with increased fishing activity despite decreased fish abundance. The advent of motorized boats and fish-finders helped to expand fishing activity beyond piers. You may download the full-text using the link above.
