A coalition of scientists, retailers, politicians and campaigners are saying that consumers of tuna are being betrayed and the tuna they are purchasing is not truly sustainable. The MSC certified boats catching tuna sustainably may also be catching other fish non sustainably and not meeting MSC requirements at all times.
"A federal court upheld the U.S. government’s “Seafood Import Monitoring Program,” which will require some imported seafood at risk of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and seafood fraud to be fully documented and traced from the fishing vessel or farm to the U.S. border."
